Ladybug Red-Black Print

Did you know that ladybugs' spots are a warning to predators? This color combination — black and red like in our Detailed Color cursor — is known as aposematic coloration. Ladybugs aren't the only insects that use aposematic coloration to discourage predators. The more conspicuous and colorful the ladybug species, the less likely it is to be attacked by birds. The ladybug's color serves as a courteous warning to would-be eaters – the brighter the bug, the more toxic its poison.
